Sneak Peek of our Academic Week

math: This is our last week on our fraction math unit! This week we will work to solve fraction stories and find the fraction of a whole number. For example, what is 1/4 of 24? We will use counters to help us visualize the work. Our math test is scheduled for this Wednesday.

reading (and science): Animal Research Clubs! In our collaborative clubs, we will first work to orient ourselves to a set of texts. When learning about a topic, researchers look over the resources and organize them. Then, we will work to synthesize them. By doing so, we will dig into a topic, identify subtopics, read about those subtopics, and then synthesize information the way experts do.

writing: This week we will wrap up our opinion pieces. We will construct a good ending to our piece. Then we will peer-edit and publish.

word work: We continue on with Words Their Way! This is our differentiated spelling program where we focus on spelling patterns to help us become the best spellers we can be. Spelling words can be found on Vocabulary A-Z + in your child’s planner. It’s always great to practice these throughout the week.

religion: We continue to focus on Mother Mary and prepare for our May Crowning Ceremony.

social studies:

Have an awesome week!
