This Week in Class:

  • Math: All about fractions! Students are getting familiar with fractions by using pattern blocks to represent pieces of a whole. We are focusing on adding and subtracting fractions this week.
  • Writing: Students are choosing topics for their informational reports this week. We will focus on how to narrow down our topics and start researching next week.
  • Reading: We continue with our novel study of The Island of the Blue Dolphins.
  • Religion: Students have learned about the 1st 3 commandments in depth. This next chapter focuses on how we can grow in our holiness.
  • Social Studies: Students will study about what happened after the Mission system era. We will read about Mexico’s War of Independence and how that affected CA.
  • Science: Students will create and test out their “sound wave watchers” to finish out our unit on Sound.

Let’s have a great week,

Ms. Schmaeling
