I was very proud of our students last week when we went on our field trip to the Olivas Adobe; the docents are always happy to see students from Sacred Heart School. We had a wonderful time and learned so much about life during the rancho period. We will be going to Stations of the Cross on Wednesday at 2 p.m. You are most welcome to join us if you can! Friday is a noon dismissal.

THE WEEK AHEAD:

HOMEWORK (due next Tuesday): Students will be working on the following ixL skills: Math D 16 and D 18, and Language F 4. We are doing fluency #25, and students should be reading for 20-30 minutes per night. Students should complete the Math Boxes on page 131 and 133 by Friday.

DAILY WORK

Religion: This week we will be talking about the fourth and fifth commandments. We will also be doing our Lenten crosses with the matches, and students are learning a special Lenten prayer.

Math: We will finish up work on Unit 5 this week. We will have the unit test on Thursday or Friday. We continue to drill on basic multiplication facts as well.

Reading Workshop: We continue reading biographies for this mini-unit. Students should be jotting as they read, and when they are done with a book they are to write a summary. Click here for the questions to be answered in the summary. biosummaries

Vocabulary: We continue our work on unit 11; the test will be on Thursday.

Grammar: This week we continue our study of adjectives.

Science: We continue our study of earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides.

Social Studies: After visiting the Olivas Adobe last week, we will now be reading issue #15 about the rancho period. We will also be working on our mission posters, which will be displayed with our mission projects at the School Fair on March 14th.
