Third grade families,
I am so delighted with all the beautiful and hard work we have done!
With progress reports approaching, I would like to begin meeting with families to set some academic plans and goals for this year!
Please keep a look out for an email from me regarding conference scheduling.
Important Dates:
Wednesday, 9/26: practice exit drill- during our drill, families will be receiving an email at the start and end of the drill. Please respond to that email so that the office is sure that all families are included!
Thursday, 9/27: library day! Please make sure library books are brought to school so that new ones may be checked out.
Friday, 9/28: FULL day Friday.
Homework:
- 100 minutes of reading/week and logged.
- Fluency passage and comprehension questions.
- IXL Math: C.1, T.6 & T.7
Sneak peek to our academic week:
Math: This week we wrap up Unit 1. Part of our week will be spent practicing calculating elapsed time; the rest of the week will be spent reviewing for our first math test this Thursday morning!
Reading: In reading, we begin making predictions in our independent reading books, as well as in our read aloud book, Stone Fox. We continue expanding and training our minds to think deeper within our books.
Writing: We continue on with our narrative drafts! This week we will continue revising our writing, focusing on organization. We will practice the different ways that we can chunk our writing into paragraphs.
Grammar: This week we practice with using commas in their proper spots, specifically when writing letters.
Word Work: Spelling words can be found in your child’s planner. Spelling tests will be this Friday. Spellingcity.com is an additional resource that is helpful to our class!
Religion: We continue digging deeper into our 7 Sacraments, learning the symbols of each, and discussing psalms that fit well with the Sacraments.
Science: We wrap up our unit on adaptations and will begin our next section on the environment. We will be discussing how our environments change… discussing which changes are helpful and which are harmful.
Thank you for your constant support! Have a wonderful rest of the week.
