Dear Kindergarten Families,

I hope all families enjoyed the 3-Day weekend. Thank you parents and family members who helped last Friday’s  Primary Centers. I appreciate your classroom support whether it be at home or in class. Thank you for coming to Back-To-School Night it was well attended, if you have any questions, please let me know.

If you are new to our school, go to this link: www.sacredheartschoolventura.org look for “Our School” drop down box -“Handbook” is the first choice, the item # 46 is Dress Code/Uniform, look over pages 52-55 you will see the dress code for non-uniform days. Also, notice shoes, a few students have different color shoe laces that do not follow our dress code.

This week’s events:

Academics:

God Loves Us —  In our religion book we have discussed Welcomes Are Good, Chapter 1. This week, Names Are Good, Chapter 2 brings us to part of our homework assignment. Let us know what your child name means or why you chose their name, who they are named after, etc. In our reading series, our focus will be on comprehension; compare and contrast. Listening skills as well as oral language skills are part of growing up which is the read aloud book this week Now I’m Big. Chapter 1 in our math series has us comparing as well. Sorting skills, by color, and size will be covered this week. We also count daily, and are beginning to work on place value as we discuss how many days in school.

Exciting news in science: we have four caterpillars, we watched two hang in the ‘J’ position and change into a chrysalis on Friday. Over the weekend I suspect we may have two more in the chrysalis form. Labor Day and occupations will be discussed this week for Social Studies.

Last week on August 30, we celebrated Alexander’s fifth birthday.  Coming next week on September 12 is Alexis’ fifth birthday.

This week will fly by–if you have any questions, please let me know.

God Bless your family,

Mrs. Carol Brown
