ACADEMICS

Reading: As we grow word solving muscles, we are learning how to look for words or parts of words we know to help us decode tricky works.

Phonics: For words ending in -le, we are learning to break the word before the consonant in front of the -le (can dle). We are also learning to read each word part carefully so as not to skip any of the word parts. Finally, we are learning that the first consonant is silent in words with gn, kn, and wr.

Spelling: Please check your student’s planner for their sort. Spelling tests will be on Tuesday due to the long holiday weekend

Math: We are learning how to name and define line segments. We are also learning about the concept of parallel and parallel line segments.

Writing: Nonfiction Writing – We are learning how to teach facts to our audience and clear up any confusion our readers may have.

Religion: We are learning how to become better people through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We made a heart pin that we will wear at First Reconciliation. The pin is a reminder for us to be more loving after our meeting with Jesus.

Social Studies: We are learning how to compare and contrast our daily lives with those of the adults in our lives.

Science: We will be learning why there is sand at the beach.

HOMEWORK

Fluency – Please read the fluency passage and answer the questions on the back. This should be completed over the course of 4 days.

February Reading Choice Board – Please read a minimum of 20 minutes daily with the goal of having read 100 minutes for the week. Please complete a minimum of 5 activities on the February Reading Choice Board and complete the Book Review.
