Hello Families- Fall is in full swing in our room!
Last week we worked on:
Reading: During our whole group reading time, we began to read nonfiction passages about bats and the seasons. During our small groups, we continued learning to sound out the middle and ending sounds of words.
Science: Using what we know about birds and apples to compare and contrast bats and pumpkins.
Math: Using pennies and nickels to count and learn their values.
Writing: Creating sentences that make sense. Using neat printing in our work.
A favorite tradition at our school is to celebrate All Saints Day. This year on Friday, November 4th our students in K-2 will be dressing as their chosen saints. With our “Saints Parade” around the school, we add an opportunity for the students to teach us their saint’s name and what they are best known for before sainthood. I ask that you speak to your student and ask which saint they would like to dress as this year. If your student wishes to be the same saint as last year… I think this is wonderful. Each year, they will build on their knowledge of their chosen saint. Please let me know which saint your child has chosen by the end of this week. For costumes, please do not worry about this event. See what you have at home to dress your little saint. Everyone loves whatever the students come dressed in during our annual event!
This week’s reminders:
Monday: No School. Religious Retreat for Staff.
Tuesday: PE
Wednesday: $1.00 Free Dress for Hurricane Relief!
Friday: Noon dismissal. Also, the due date to let me know which saint your child has chosen to be this year.
Have a good week!
Trudi Driscoll
