This week we are saying goodbye to Kona, Stumpy, and our Gooseberry Park friends. I know the students have enjoyed the novel and now it is time to move on to our second book, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.
The chapter 2 math test will be Wednesday. We have been reviewing in class and the students will have homework from the book tonight and tomorrow night, in addition to their accelerated math.
All students are writing a halloween story. I have read some very interesting pieces so far! Expect to be “frightened” when they take their stories home to share with you. English grammar focuses on the study of nouns in their various forms.
The children should continue to study social studies vocabulary sheets and science packet definitions. Next Tuesday, October 18th, will be the chapter 2 science test.
This Wednesday is $1 free dress for cancer awareness (wear pink or blue.)
Please take a look at the “Hats off for cancer” flyers going home in the family envelopes. All students are invited to bring a new (never worn) child sized hat to school. Please leave the tags on the hats. The hats will be donated to children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. It is important that they are sent to school in plastic bags and are very clean. The immune systems of these children have been greatly compromised because of their treatments.
I will be out Thursday and Friday. The students will be in the very capable hands of Mrs. Marsha Wasgatt. Most know her as she substituted for them several days last year.
Friday is noon dismissal.
Blessings to you all,
Mrs. Sharon Redmond
