Hello First Grade Families!
This week is a short one! We have a noon dismissal on Thursday! Friday and Monday school will be closed to honor the Memorial Day holiday.
This last week we had special activities planned by the 7th and 8th graders! The 8th graders helped us make paper flowers to honor Mary’s Crowning which we will have on Wednesday afternoon. We are looking forward to the third grader’s presentation!
This week we will continue to learn about the Mass. We are turning to look at the vestments the priests wear and what they mean throughout the year. We will also continue learning about Mary and why she is important.
In math, we are reviewing: our place values, and odd/even numbers. In science, it is World Bee Day today! We will have activities throughout the day to celebrate! Our science unit this month has been focused on bees and plants. The students have enjoyed seeing the adaptations bees have developed to care for their hives and gather pollen!
In reading, we are focusing on reading opinion books. We will define ways authors try to persuade us to follow their thinking.
A very full short week!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Driscoll
