Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week
math: This week, we will wrap up our unit 1, focusing heavily on 3-digit addition/subtraction and adding/ subtracting money amounts. We will be taking a trip to the Delicious Donut Shop! There, we will determine how much our treats will cost and if we have enough money to complete our purchases! Our math test is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1st.
reading: We continue with our class read-aloud, Third Grade Angels. This week we will focus on character development. How has Suds changed from the beginning of the story, to now?
Our reading rotations are going well! Each rotation covers a different skill; comprehension, fluency/accuracy, and guided reading with me!
writing: Now that we have brainstormed wonderful ideas for our personal narratives, this week, we will work on narrowing down those ideas to the final one. Often, as writers, when determining an idea for a story, we start very general; a watermelon idea. However, to help us be very descriptive, we will focus on finding very specific small moments; seed ideas.
grammar: All about adjectives! How can we describe nouns? We will work on incorporating adjectives in our everyday writing, too.
religion: This week, we will give our focus to The Sacraments of Baptism and Reconciliation. What are these Sacraments? How does God help us through these? We will discuss the meaning of each, discover the symbols that represent them, and find Bible verses that align to them, too.
word work: This week we will become familiar with different word work activities that we will complete throughout the school year. This week we will work on writing stories with our spelling words, practice developing our vocabulary, and use our words in context.
Have a wonderful week,
Miss Poindexter
Happy Wednesday! I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend. A short, but busy week ahead!
