Good morning Families!
Today, we are celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s Day. School is off, and I hope everyone has enjoyed the sunshine and long weekend. This week, we will continue learning the important ways Martin Luther King Jr. stood up for those around him and his dreams for America in social studies.
In writing, we will begin looking at poetry. Poems can be funny, sad, and serious. We will also try our hand at writing classroom poems which will focus on different themes.
For math this week, we are working on introducing our 120 chart! We will review number values within the chart: backward counting, skip counting, and greater than and less than.
Science: In our celebration of winter, we will be learning about snowflakes and the man who first pioneered microphotography: Wilson Bentley! We love big words! We use our Secret Stories to see what English spelling patterns are in them! Microphotography is the process of shrinking photographs to a microscopic scale. I cannot wait to see their faces when we look at snowflake photographs that show their crystalized makeup!
