Dear Kindergarten Families,

Here we go the beginning of a full week! Your children will be in school all day everyday this week. Dismissal is at 2:45.

Please note your child will need a snack and a lunch this week. If you are interested in the hot lunch program, it starts next week and the form must be returned no later than Wednesday, August 22.

Two birthdays this month! Kiersten on August 24 and Andrew on August 28.

How do we celebrate birthdays? At our school we recognize your child’s birthday at our monthly assembly and in class we make a birthday book, take their picture, sing Happy Birthday and they are adorned with a paper crown!  Please note: due to many different food allergies we cannot allow any food items. Birthday invitations can be handed out in school if all students are invited.

Academics:

We will begin by learning to respond to God’s goodness with a sense of wonder, reverence, and gratitude. We will learn the holiness of His name, the Bible, wonder of creation, and respond to God’s love through prayer. We attend Mass every Friday at 8:30 – family members are always welcome to join us.

Language arts and math centers are taught in a rotational pattern each morning. For the next three weeks our unit in Language Arts consist of identifying the alphabet by letter/sound recognition, beginning reading skills through sight words and pictures, and printing practice. Math skills: identifying numbers 0-20, counting, sorting, classifying, and positional words.

Our science lesson begins by studying about animals and their needs. Social Studies has us learning about others in our world, country, neighborhood.

This week we will be resting after lunch, if you have not sent in a bath towel for your child to rest on- please send in ASAP!
