Dear Third Grade Parents and Families,
Great news! We now have access to a wonderful website to help with spelling. The website is “spellingcity.com”. I have gone onto the site and have set up a new list for this week and plan to add each week’s words as the year goes on. You just have to check out this site! Click on “find a list,” then type in my last name without the hyphen (EspinosaKaiserman) and you will see the spelling list. You have three options – 1) teach – the words are read to you, spelled out and used in a sentence. 2) games – the site plugs in the spelling words into games – check out the HangMouse game based on Hangman 3) test – you can actually type in the words after they are read to you. What a great resource!!
On Monday, we will take a math quiz on addition with regrouping. Remember that this and all quizzes (including the one sent home in last week’s work packet on time) may be corrected and resubmitted to me for full credit. This is a fantastic and easy way to learn from mistakes while raising individual math grades.
In small reading groups, we will continue with Bunnicula and Charlotte’s Web. The group reading The Magic Treehouse: Haunted Castle on Hollow’s Eve is wrapping up and this week plans to start a new story.
We also plan to begin our ocean animal reports in preparation for our trip to the Sea Center. Please remember to turn in your child’s permission slip this week along with $21, if you have not already done so.
This Friday looks like it will be a busy one. After mass, temporary tattoos will be available for $1 as part of our pre-Halloween festivities. Students should still plan to wear their uniforms, but may choose to add Halloween themed accessories. On this day, we will also be having schoolwide Families in the afternoon.
Finally, I hope that everyone had a chance to enjoy Sunday’s Fiesta!
