Dear 2nd Grade Parents,
Thank you to all the parents who helped make our Primary Centers successful. This week we will be busy memorizing our saint report. Friday will be a full day schedule which will include an activity with our families in the afternoon.
A Look into our Week:
Reading Log & Fluency IXL (P.1 & P.4) only 10-15 minutes total. Children continue showing so much growth in their fluency. It is great to see their number of words per minute increase as the week ends. This daily practice will help with accuracy, fluency & comprehension. Thank you for taking the extra minute of your time to help support your child’s reading.
Language Arts: We will begin our story, Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett, in our anthology. We will be identifying fact & opinion in our reading and evaluate.
Phonics: long o, u, and e.
Spelling Unit 9: Digraphs ch, th, sh, wh spellingcity.com
Vocabulary Skill: Antonyms; reviewing Homophones & Compound Words
Grammar Skills: Question & Commands
Religion: Saint reports are fantastic. The children will be reading their report to the class beginning on Tuesday. I will send a copy of report so they may memorize their presentation for November 1st. It should only be 5 sentences total to memorize. I will keep all the memorabilia and pictures of baptism you have sent in until next week. Our class has enjoyed sharing their special pictures or gifts they had received on the day of their baptism. If you have any questions in regards to the saint parade, please send me an email. Thanks to Father Bill who role played a baptism in church with our class. It was so much FUN!!!!!
Math: Fact Families, Fast Facts, Double Facts, Word Problems. We are working hard on counting money. Please make sure your child recognizes the coins and the amount each is worth. I will be giving them a quick assessment next week on money.
Science: We will be ending our Plant Life Cycle with a test next week. We will begin our Animal Life Cycle.
Social Studies: Community
