Dear Families,

This is a busy week for the 5th grade class.  The students are doing a great job getting ready for the intermediate program.  The program is Wednesday, April 9th at 6:30.  Mrs. Lyle sent home a letter on Friday explaining what the students should wear.This Friday is a full day.

The Speech Contest will take place in May.  By the week of May 5th, students are to commit to memory a published poem selection with a minimum of 25 lines. There are no props for the 5th grade.

I am continuing to ask  each student to donate one box of tissues  to the classroom this week. We are almost out!

We have almost reached our goal of $80.00 for Blessings in a Backpack.  I encourage students to continue to bring in change.

Below is an overview of our week.

Religion:  We continue to focus on Lent.  We will be discussing Palm Sunday.

Vocabulary:  Unit 10

Grammar: Unit 5.  We will focus on subject and object pronouns.

ELA:  We continue to read our book

Math:  We will be working with exponents and order of operations.  3 Acc assignments are due by Friday.   IXL students are to complete section M.2.

Science:  Chapter 3.  We will focus on the excretory system and how it removes waste.

Social Studies:  We will evaluate the impact of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense.We will summarize Thomas Jefferson’s organization and purpose for each part of the Declaration of Independence.
