Our efforts on behalf of The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Adopt-a-Family Program continue in several ways. First, if you have more Halloween candy than you might need, please send it to school to share with families in Los Angeles. Of course, all donated candy should have no Halloween marking, as it will be distributed during the Christmas season. Second, please send $1 for each donut your student(s) would like to purchase to be delivered during the morning recess on Friday, November 12. We ask that the purchase be made by Tuesday, November 9 so we are able to have an accurate count for donuts. Finally, it is time to prepare for Teddy Bear Day to be held on Tuesday, December 7. Every student at Sacred Heart School brings a new stuffed animal for a child in Los Angeles who is a part of the Adopt-a-Family Program. Monsignor Terry Fleming, a native of Ventura County and an associate pastor at Sacred Heart Church early in his priesthood, comes to our school on Teddy Bear Day to share the stories of how we can help those in need in Los Angeles and collect our monetary, stuffed animal, and candy donations. You are welcome to attend this special assembly if your schedule allows; it is entertaining and inspiring. On December 13th, our 8th grade students will travel to Los Angeles to assist in the preparation of the gift boxes for the Adopt-a-Family Program.
