On Wednesday the middle school of Sacred Heart participated in a Living Rosary prayer service. Each student had a part holding a bead and saying a prayer. The rest of the school recited the prayers and listened to the mysteries of the Rosary. It was a peaceful, reverent service honoring our mother Mary.

The 6th grade is studying Genesis in the Old Testament and the creation stories. To celebrate God’s beautiful work the students wrote a prayer thanking God for many different aspects of creation. We will begin moving on to main characters in the Old Testament as we read the bible and our religion book.
Today we discussed the role of Guardian Angels in our lives. Guardian Angels watch over us and aid us with prayer. Students then created their own angels.

This week the 5th grade class reflected on the quote from Mother Teresa, “We can do no great things, only small things with great love”. We discussed how small acts of kindness can really made a difference to other people. The students wrote about how they have experienced small acts of kindness.
On September 8 we celebrate the birth of Mary in the Catholic Church. The exact date of her birth is not known for sure but the Church chose this date to commemorate the birth of this holy woman. Happy Birthday to the first disciple of Jesus!
