Dear Kindergarten Families,

Happy Valentine’s Day !

Valentine’s day is a free dress day – no dollars! Your child may bring in Valentine’s on Wednesday or Thursday. We will have a simple exchange of cards in the afternoon.

The Virtus lessons will be this week. Our religion lesson: Hearts are Good, shows God’s everlasting love. And how that love was revealed to us in Jesus.

We are off on a good start with our spelling sorts. Please look for sorts in your child’s gold folder today. Cut out, keep at home in the envelope. Ask your child how we sort at school and help with sounds and spelling.

Reading and writing workshops continue – looking for words we know, sounding out simple words and finding sight words. Writing will continue thinking about what will we be when we grow up and what to do to reach that goal.

Math continues with measuring with standard and non-standard units. We are working hard with estimation and games that help with counting and making exchanges by fives. Thursday we will do some graphing.

Learning about sense of sight and our wonderful eyes! We will start a special project to add to the school fair.

Social studies finds us reading about some famous African Americans. The President’s Day brings our attention to some interesting facts about our first 13 presidents.

Friday is a noon dismissal and Monday, President’s Day is a school holiday. Enjoy another 3 day weekend! Have a wonderful week ~ Mrs. Brown
