Dear Kindergarten Parents,
Hope everyone enjoyed time with their Valentines and the extra weekend day! Thanking you and your children for the Valentine cards, hugs, and treats. I appreciate it!
Celebrating Lent – a time to return to God with our whole heart, find ways to help family and people in need, say extra prayers, and to work diligently even when it is difficult.
On Wednesday afternoons at 2:00 we will be in church for Stations of the Cross. Please join us if your schedule permits.
This week we begin the Virtus lessons. Boundaries, rules and limits are the focal point in this first lesson. We will spend 20 or 30 minutes “discussing some ways to identify, define and honor appropriate boundaries in different types of relationships”. Second lesson is about trust, knowing safe adults and friends. “Goal is to teach children how to know that they have the right to say ‘no’, to tell a trusted adult when they feel uncomfortable, and to help them recognize who to trust when they need to communicate their concerns.”
Week three in theme 6 – Language Arts brings us a new letter ‘Qq’ and phonemic awareness sound /qu/. Our reading response and comprehension for this week is fantasy/realism. The reading strategy is looking for details and story sequence. Print practice, sight word work, sentence structure, and punctuation marks. Reading informational texts for science and social studies.
Everyday Math finds counting with double digits, find the number game, using calculators for addition, measurement with heel to toe and comparing to standard units.
Science continues with animal comparisons, making the landforms, learning a bit about volcanoes.
Learning fun facts about our first 24 presidents!
