Dear Kindergarten Families,

A busy week ahead!

Progress Reports come out on Tuesday – please review and return signed by Monday, January 30.

Wednesday we celebrate 100 days of school! It is also a free dress day to support the Vincent de Paul Society cost $1.00 or more.

To start of Catholic Schools Week, we celebrate with Parent’s Day on Friday!  The day starts at 8:30 for Mass. Reception for parents in Hall after Mass.  An assembly, then class visits 10:30- 11:40. Our day ends at 12:00. Our school is having Open House on Sunday all are welcome to come and visit all the classrooms. Maybe you know someone who has showed an interest in our school? If so, Sunday is a great time to come visit our campus and meet the teachers.

Next week is Catholic School’s Week – please review Mrs. Benner’s letter for more information and service hour opportunities.

Our academic week:

Religion has us reading the Children’s Bible and learning more about Jesus.

Phonics focus: letter/sound of consonants, some letter blends (sh, th), rhyming and syllables and print practice.  Reading Workshop concentrates on re-reading to bring our books to life as we notice patterns in a familiar text. Using a smooth voice and/or singing out charts with poems and rhymes. Writing Workshop is using informative books on the Arctic and Antarctic as we write important facts about Polar Animals. Spend time each evening on sight words.

Math lessons continue adding objects to 10 and 20. Maybe even 100 on Wednesday! Number formation practice,  number stories, and using a number sentence with pictures are part of this week’s work in math.

Science and social studies blend together as we learn about animals and extreme weather conditions in the Polar regions.

As a reminder – please return library books by Thursday- we will not be checking out a new one this week due to Star Testing.

Enjoy the sun this week!

I hope to see all parents on Friday!

Mrs. Carol Brown
