Dear Kindergarten Families,

We had a nice Valentine’s Day celebration in class on Friday. Thank you and your children for the Valentine cards, chocolates, hugs, sweet treats and tea, flowers, pens, and even a stuffed animal!  🙂   AND  I hope all enjoyed the extra day this weekend to celebrate all our Presidents. We will continue learning several interesting facts about these important men during Social Studies this week.

…. Lent begins this week on Ash Wednesday,  please join us for Mass at 8:30 if your schedule permits.  Lent offers us 3 ways to grow spiritually. Our lessons will reflect- ways to pray, doing good deeds and learn several ways to fast. On Wednesday we will plant a seed and watch it grow during the 40 days of Lent.

ELA – Reviewing focus letter/sounds /l/,/k/, and /q/ and short vowels /a/ and /i/. Working with sight words in sentences; reading to distinguish realism from fantasy; understanding ‘plot’; and reading informational passages and text.

EM – counting by 5’s, measurement with standard and non-standard units, estimation and a bit on graphing.

Science – Big news this week is the outreach program “Hey,  Little Ant” ! Please send in payment envelope if your did not already do so. School Fair project – working on the landforms,  animals in their habitats, and reports will continue this week.

Thursday is library day – please return books in order to check out a new one.

Friday is a full day of school.

Please return signed progress reports this week – preferably on Tuesday or Wednesday.
