Dear Kindergarten Families,
It’s almost March! Wednesday, March 2 is our annual School Fair. Doors open at 6:00 – fair ends at 7:30. Come and see what our class has been working on and enjoy all the science and social studies projects from our school.
Wednesday is also the beginning of Read Across America in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday.
We will celebrate by decorating our door and reading lots of books this week and through the month. And we will write a recommendation for a couple of our favorite books.
As we begin the third week of Lent we continue to be prayerful, grow in our faith, and give to others. Our religion text lesson teaches us our helping hands are gifts of love and learning about forgiveness.
ELA – sounds for letters Dd and Zz; short vowel ‘i’ and the ‘ig’ family. Reading strategies to question; summarize; comprehension skill include cause and effect and making predictions. We will be working with opposites; position words; parts of a car; words for travel, and syllables.
EM – finds us using tally marks to count and record; use standard measurement tools and we may find time to do some graphing. The homework component will come from our Every day Math book – graphing colors of cars in your neighborhood.
Science – we will be working to finish our landforms at the end of the week we will pick up where we left off with our senses.
Mapping different areas in our house, classroom and neighborhood will be our social studies work.
Friday is a full day of school –
Enjoy another warm week!
Blessings,
Mrs. Carol Brown
