Dear Kindergarten Families,

Happy October!

We sure enjoyed Primary Centers on Friday! Nice projects came home on Friday and a few more will come home on Tuesday. Thank you parents who were able to come and help. We appreciate it. Next Primary Center is October 28. Look for my calendar coming home this week.

Upcoming Events

This Wednesday is picture day! Your children are in uniform for individual and class photos.

This Friday is a 2pm dismissal.

Next Monday, no school – Parish and school staff retreat on October 10.

Wednesday, October 12 non uniform (free dress) please bring $1.00 or more for Hurricane Relief Efforts. Check school handbook for free dress guidelines.

Academics

The message from Promise Weekly, we trust in Jesus, we trust our family, we can trust our friends. Chapter 4 continues and we discuss care for the world God gave us.

Language arts – identifying letters and sounds. We are working consonants /p/, /b/, /t/ and /d/ the non voiced sounds. Reading simple passages begin this week.

Math – counting by tens, using ten frames for numbers 0-10, counting on the number grid, practicing number formation and positions.

Science – plant and animal changes in the fall.

Social studies – rules in our community, some mapping to learn directions.

Homework

Today we had so much fun reading the animal reports that came in today! So much so we will do this again this week! Choose a different animal this time.

Read with your children, find a favorite story and have them do the book response – drawing the setting. I am hearing great retell from the stories, your children are doing fabulous!

Some are having trouble with counting by 10’s- let’s do the IXL skill this week “learn to skip count by 10’s” and I’m going to send home a 110 chart to get a visual with 10’s column.
