Dear Kindergarten families,

Upcoming events in February:

  • Tomorrow the second Mid-term Progress Reports will come home. Please sign and return by Friday, Feb. 8.
  • Thursday, February 14 we will exchange Valentines.
  • Monday, February 18 is President’s Day – no school
  • Wednesday, February 20 is the School Fair – 6:00 – 7:30 PM

The winter cold is here! Please send your child with a jacket and label it with their name. Also, for those who cannot yet tie their shoes – please have your child wear slip on or Velcro shoes. Chap stick for those winter dry lips is fine, just regular tube size, no lip gloss or the large egg shaped style. That way we can keep at our desk if necessary.

Academics this week:

Religion -Finishing the lesson, Jesus as our good Shepherd and work on the craft. We are discussing forgiving others and saying sorry when we ask others to forgive us. The Virtus lessons will be Wednesday and Thursday this week.

Phonics is primarily focused on Words Their Way. If you have not sorted with your child, it’s good practice to help learn words. We continue to work as super readers looking for more words that match pictures and using a storytellers voice. Writing more words or letters to represent words as we work on our opinion writing.

Everyday Math finds us measuring with standard and non-standard units. Continued use of tally marks and counting by fives. Math stories using pictures and number sentences with addition and subtraction to 10 or 20.

Sense of smell this week for our lab work with graphing and discussion that follow our discoveries. Non-fiction reading for social studies – material will center around President’s Day and Black History month.

If you have any questions – feel free to send me an email. Enjoy your week!

Mrs. Brown
