Dear Kindergarten Families,
Lent begins on Wednesday this week! If your schedule permits, please join us for Mass Wednesday morning. Our religion lesson is Hearts Are Good with scripture reading: Jesus says, “Love one another as I love you.” We will continue to reflect on Jesus’ example to pray, a bit about fasting, and give to those in need during the season of Lent.
ELA – reading skills: blending and segmenting simple CVC words; beginning sound /k/; reviewing /f/ and /t/; strategy focus is to summarize; comprehension skill is understanding plot of the story. Informational reading will focus on volcanoes, bodies of water and landforms. Using ‘here’ in our daily sentence work; quotation marks and end punctuation.
EM – math finds us in Section 5 – begin to use standard measuring tools, ordering daily events, patterning continues, and skip counting by 5’s and reinforcing 10’s and a little work with 2’s.
Science – construction begins on our landforms and bodies of water for the School Fair. We will use the information from the World Book and our homework papers to create individual student reports.
Social Studies – reading about presidents and our country.
Friday is a noon dismissal and our Valentine Exchange – and free dress (no cost).
Monday is a school holiday in honor of President’s Day.
Any questions? Send me an email
God bless your family –
Mrs. Carol Brown
