Dear Kindergarten Families,

Your children are doing fantastic in school! I enjoy how they are forming friendships as they do their best everyday.

This week’s academics:

Religion – Stories from the Children’s Bible. We have read about: Creation, Noah, and Jonah. This week we will cover how good God’s world is and being able to still our hearts to listen in prayer.

Language Arts –

  • Phonics workshop- letters and corresponding sounds; print practice
  • Words their Way – matching sounds to pictures organizing and categorizing (we will continue with sort 1) sort 2 will be sent home next week.
  • Writing workshop – narrative writings our favorite place
  • Reading workshop – learning to love the old classics – characters and settings

Math –

  • patterns by color, size, and shape
  • counting to 100 by 1’s, and 10’s
  • building and designing with shapes, craft sticks and cups

Science –

  • growing seeds in a bag to see root and stem
  • planting our peas in soil – noting the growth

Social studies –

  • We will continue to talk about community helpers.
  • Importance of rules at home, school and community.

This week’s news

Homework begins this week – look for the folder coming home on Tuesday – due the following Tuesday.

  1. Read each night for 20 minutes
  2. Find a favorite book and discuss – and have your child do a response.
  3. IXL practice – do these skills in math and language arts.
