Dear Parents, November 19, 2012
We have much to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving week and at the top of my list is YOU! Thank you for all your support and for sharing your children with me. They make me smile everyday!
This is a very short week and therefore we will concentrate on the “Thanksgiving” theme in language arts and social studies. We will review our spelling units through the playing of “Sparkle” and therefore will not have the usual spelling homework (or test).
Within Social Studies this week, First Grade will be performing our Readers’ Theatre play about the First Thanksgiving. The play is not memorized but instead read from a script. We will wear simple costume pieces that will be made. Our performance will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 11:00 in our classroom. Our sixth grade buddies will be attending and parents are welcome to attend as well. If your child will not be present for class on Wednesday please let me know as soon as possible as every student has a speaking part and we will need to rearrange if necessary.
In math we will spend the week in review. In science we will be taking our chapter test on Monday with a special lab on Tuesday focused on owl pellets! In religion we will continue working on understanding the Our Father and being thankful.
Reminders for the week:
- Please remind your child to bring their library book to school Tuesday so that they may check out a new one.
- Wednesday is a noon dismissal.
- Thanksgiving mass Wednesday at 8:30.
- Wednesday signals the end of the first trimester!
- No school on Thursday or Friday – Happy Thanksgiving!
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends.
