Hello Families-   We are coming to the end of October! We will have been in school for a little over 41 days! They have already learned so much! I am thrilled!

 Last Week’s Learning Focus:

Religion: Learning about the different saints we have chosen with our grown-ups! They are so excited about November 4th!

Reading: Dove into reading for an author’s purpose and key details to support their purpose using our mini non-fiction unit on Fire Safety. As well as fictional fall favorites!

Science:  Learning more about how bats help our environment.

Math:  Reviewing larger number printing. Also completing mixed math facts of addition and subtraction. Learning not to mix these math concepts up!

Writing: Using adjectives to make our sentences more interesting.

Looking ahead:

Friday, November 4th our students in K-2 will be dressing as their chosen saints. With our “Saints Parade” around the school, as well as for the students to teach us their saint’s name and what they are best known for before sainthood. If you have not done so, I ask that you speak to your student and ask which saint they would like to dress as this year. And email me their choice. Please keep costumes simple and ones that will not drag on the ground as they parade.  If your student wishes to be the same saint as last year, I think this is wonderful. Also to prepare for the upcoming special day, there is a homework sheet for them to fill out about their saint.

Share bags going home this Monday! Our special community-building activity! Please place 1 thing that your child would like to share about themselves! Due: Wednesday! Please note not anything that is not school appropriate!

Daily this week: pre-sale of Halloween Tattoos sponsored by 8th grade. Bring $1.00 or more to purchase! 2 will be placed on students by 8th grade on Halloween and the rest will go home in an envelope.

Monday: Music

Tuesday: PE and Homework due from last week!

Wednesday: Music and Share Bag day! Homework folders go home!

Thursday: Art and PE and any Share Bags we need to finish!

Friday:  Primary Centers for K-2. Noon dismissal.

Have a good week!
