Hello First Grade Families!
The month is coming to an end! That went too quickly! First grade is an awesome group of students! They work hard! And cheer each other on! I love seeing their smiling faces each morning.
This past week we practiced subtraction using the count back from the total method. We also spent some time looking at bar graphs and doing class questions with them to tally the answers up. Later in the week we played a challenging game on shapes and their attributes.
In writing, we are beginning to construct our fairy tales. Writing their own tales helps them see how elements of a story work. It also helps bring out more developed sentence writing. What adjectives can you use to describe the characters and the setting? We help each other by having partner writing conferences and conferences with me.
