Hello Families!
We have had several cold mornings! It is jacket time! Please have your student’s name on their belongings as we have had many throughout the grades floating around after recess. They tend to take them off when playing and then forget the outerwear when they line up to come back into the classrooms.
Last week we continued to work on counting our Base Ten blocks by 2’s, 10’s, and even 100’s. We played a new partner game that they loved and did a number talk using turtle shell images. In writing, we practiced using adjectives to make more descriptive sentences. In reading, we are finding that Heggerty’s online phonological activities have begun to go quicker. What’s more, the program now uses more sounds to say and manipulate. They were surprised at how fast it went the other day. I reminded them that they have grown so much in understanding letter sounds that even with the new challenging week…they felt confident! It is all in the baby steps!
We received our first mail from our Gingerbread Exchange! It was from a kindergarten class in Brewster, New York. They wrote us a sweet note and we posted it on our map of the United States. We cannot wait for more mail!
