Hello Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! It looks like we are still in for cooler weather this week. Please make sure any new sweatshirts or jackets have your child’s name on them so they can be returned. I also wanted to mention how happy the students are with their families supporting their reading and math development. I have heard many positive comments from the students about how they talk about math at home or how their families have made reading fun! Kudos to you all!

This week we will continue to work on developing flexibility in our math concepts. They have enjoyed our “spotlight” equations and the moving of the equal sign to vertical when doing our problems too. In reading, we are using their love for illustrating to promote reading comprehension through drawing (and writing what they have drawn) during center time.

During religion, we will continue to study how we can pray and the different types of prayers: thankful, forgiveness, praise, and asking for help. Learning how prayer can offer a way to become calm in various situations is always a tool we want in our emotional toolbox.

Next is a call for some help. Our 100th day of school is coming up on Monday, Feb.5th. I need packs of small stickers of various kid-friendly themes: sports, Disney kids animation movies, dinos, hearts, etc. The reason is we make 100th days of school hats that they can pick stickers to place on them and make them unique. During this activity, we will count, discuss patterns, and talk about why they chose what they picked. If you can donate a pack or two of stickers, I would appreciate it. I don’t need huge ones. If you can donate, I would like to have them anytime between now and Monday, the 29th of January. That way I prep for the activity. Thank you!

        Have a great week!
