Hello Families!

We are heading into April! Wow! The school year is picking up speed! We are in the last trimester! Where the previous trimester was the big push in first grade, this trimester we are adding to that and reviewing a lot of our newer concepts. Your students have been working so hard. I reminded them that we all do not learn at the same time or in the same way. We reviewed when they could write their names, skip, and catch a ball from someone. They all had different answers. Our goal in first grade from here on out is to work on cementing concepts that we have learned in first grade. The best part of Sacred Heart school’s curriculum is that we use a spiral curriculum. It comes back in second in the first trimester and then pushes forward from there. Please keep working at home. You are a very important support in your child’s learning!

Another topic we have enjoyed learning about is everyone’s after-school activities and hearing about their sports, dance, and art lessons these last few weeks. Please feel free to send photos so we can learn more about their interests!

Math: We are counting quarters! We are using the “hairy line” method as well as practicing skip counting by 25! Our math book goes up to $1.00 and some change so if we can see 4 quarters as a $1.00 that would mean just counting on!

Writing/ literature: We are enjoying our Fairy Tale unit. It covers so many tales ones we know where we live as well as around the world.

Religion: We are learning about how we can learn through the good works of saints. On Monday, Jessie came to discuss that all saints began as people.

Science: Spring Equinox Unit

Have a great week!
