Dear Parents, April 30, 2018
Here’s what we are doing in first grade…
Congratulations to Khloe for winning third place in our Poetry Contest!
Language Arts: We are continuing on with our opinion writing this week! We are also working on r-controlled vowels in phonics this week. We are looking at the sounds for “er”, “ir”, and “ur” as in paper, shirt, and church. We are also looking at the “or” and “ore” sound as in fork and chore. Our new spelling words do not come from our spelling book this week. As our words do not come from our book this week, I will be spreading out our sentences. Tuesday – Thursday will have 4 Sentences as homework.
Math: We are wrapping up Unit 9. We will be reviewing and comparing fractions this week before our test at the end of the week.
Science: We will begin our new chapter on matter in science this week. We will begin with vocabulary words and then jump on in to solids!
Social Studies: We will be wrapping up our chapter on how we use the land as we get ready for our test on Friday.
