Dear Parents, May 7, 2018
Here’s what we are doing in first grade…
Language Arts: We are going to try to squeeze in a bit of our opinion writing this week, but we have a few schedule changes that may prevent this our lessons. We are continuing our work on r-controlled vowels in phonics this week. We are looking at the sounds for “ar” as in smart. Our new spelling words do not come from our spelling book this week. As we have our Jog-a-thon on Friday, our spelling test will be given on Thursday of this week!
Math: We are beginning Unit 10. We will be reviewing data collection, fractions, money, and time this week.
Science: We will continue our new chapter on matter in science this week. We will be looking at the properties of liquids and gases!
Social Studies: We were unable to do our test on Friday so we will be completing it by the end of this week.
Religion: We will take time to practice for our May Crowning. Our May Crowning will be held on Wednesday May 9th in the church at 2pm. Please join us if your schedule permits.
