A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

Language Arts:

WORD DETECTIVES for reading:   My awesome word detectives have been using their skills throughout the day.  It is amazing to see all they have learned.  This week we continue to focus on the following (bold skills):

* Breaking longer words into smaller parts (get —ting)

*Pay attention to beginning of a word (string or chase)

*Break the ending off the word (jumps—jump…s)

*Looking for vowel pairs (ai, ee, ou, oo)

Phonics:  We are working on long a and short a words (silent e).  We have added the long o and short o words (silent e).

In writing, we have started information writing.

Math: We are reviewing telling time to the hour and half hour (half past 2).  Please review the math study guide worksheet before Friday.

Religion: We discuss the second week of Advent (Peace).

Science:  Ask your child about what they have learned in science.  What if we had no windows?

Social Studies:  Complete Land and Water Forms.  Students did such  a great job making their vocabulary sheet.
