Note From Mrs. Vazquez:

Hello- Today we have the RAYS program. Be on the look out for a mealworm coming home today.

I will be sending home their math workbook this week. We did not complete every single page since I supplement with other activities. The incomplete pages may be used to review or practice skills.

Last week, I sent home a letter explaining our poem contest. Your child should have a poem selected and turned in by today. Have a great week!

A SNEAK PEEK AT OUR ACADEMICS

Language Arts: We continue working on the following:

  • Check the picture
  • Look at ALL the parts of the word
  • Get a running start
  • Check it! Do a double-check!
  • Try it 2 ways!
  • Crach the parts together.
  • Do a slow check!

We are also working on learning new words as they read. Always stop to check if you understand the vocabulary. So, say the word the best you can. Think about what it means.

Homophones and Antynons (opposites) are also part of our lessons from last week and this week. Kids are getting a kick out of homophones (Ant & Aunt, two, to, & too; eight & ate).

Phonics: We are looking at snap words and using our word attack skills.

  • vowels-long vowel? short vowel?
  • silent e
  • word parts
  • velnds or digraphs- beginning or end?
  • syllables
  • word endings (-er, ing, ed, s, es)

Math: Test will be today.

Writing: We will learn to add a table of contents to our information writing. Students are completing their first table of contents and adding pages to their information writing.

Science: RAYS program
