First Grade Families,

The children are so excited about being a Saint this Friday. As in our prior Primary Email, students are to wear their school or P.E. uniform underneath their Saint costume. If you have any questions, please send me an email.

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

MATH: Math unit test will be on Thursday. Review writing the time to the hour, reading tally mark table, counting money with nickels, skip counting by 2’s up to 12 and skip counting by 5’s. You can look through the math book to review these concepts (2-1 through 2.13).

READING: We are working on reading non fiction books and talking about what we have learned. We are also practicing role playing as a teacher while reading. Teachers ask students questions as they are reading a book. Have your child practice this while they read at home.

WRITING:  We are writing about small moments (true stories, narratives). We are working on bringing our stories to life or unfreezing a story. Ask your child, what bringing your story to life means or unfreezing a story.

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  Look in their planner for the spelling words this week. I forgot to send home the words in their binder so if you cannot read their writing you have a list of words to help. I will send them home tomorrow. 🙂

RELIGION: It’s all about Saints. We will have discussions about what they have learned. The 8th graders stopped by today to present their saint reports. Students have also completed a turkey feather with something they are thankful for this time of year. We will see our feathers displayed on our traditional turkey. Look for it during the Saints’ Parade.

REMINDERS:
