First Grade Families,

I cannot believe it is DECEMBER!!!! We only have a few days left but we will continue with our academics with a little fun here and there as we prepare for Christmas!

I am asking if you could please make sure your child has all their supplies in their backpack. I especially ask that they have at least 2 sharpened pencils ready to go every morning. I appreciate the help.

Homework

  • Reading Log: Read 20 min. a day (at least 5 times a week)

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

MATH: We began our new unit. We will focus on Odd/Even numbers, skip counting by 2’s, and number line skip counting. Practicing addition and subtraction.

READING: We have read nonfiction, fiction and now we will be reading poetry.

WRITING:  Students will select their best writing so I can review their development in writing. I will continue guiding them to add more information to their writing

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  Look in their planner for the spelling words. The kids are improving on writing their words in their planners. Please make sure to take a peek.

RELIGION: We begin speaking about our new season, Advent.

Our 8th graders will be coming to visit first graders daily to do activities with our kids either in the mornings or afternoons.

REMINDERS:

Please make sure you look at our school website for any free dress days or other activities.

Lunch: Thank you to all who wrote notes and placed them in their child’s lunch boxes. It has brought so much joy to those little faces. Also, don’t forget that you could order lunch for your child on our website.

*Friday, December 4th:  11:45 a.m. dismissal and afternoon assembly.
