First Grade Families,

Hope the wind will settle for the rest of our week. We have fun activities planned by our 8th graders this week (Wed: 2:15, Thurs. 9:20). This Friday is minimum day with a 1:45 activity with families.

Don’t forget to fill those paper bags with canned foods. There will be red bins in our pick and drop off line. 🙂

Thank you for keeping your child’s backpack organized and ready for our day. It does help me when they have all their supplies. I will be taking a peek into their binders to recycle any work (new trimester so new beginnings).

Homework

  • Reading Log: Read 20 min. a day (at least 5 times a week)
  • Practice new word sort. Go over word patterns with your child. (Test will be on Monday)
  • Looks like we are done with fluency. If your child still has some fluency to complete, please do so this week. You can send in the packet of fluency so I can add a sticker. If you would prefer no sticker, please recycle the packet. I have copies of completed work on Seesaw. 🙂
  • Math IXL: A.20, H.1, and R.6

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

MATH:  We will work on number lines (skip counting), even and odds. We will work on time to the hour and half hour.

READING: We began our new unit this week. It is all about learning good reading habits (sneak peek, check your sneak peek, and do something after you read).

WRITING:  We begin our information writing. I gave an assessment yesterday and begin the unit on Tuesday. We will be writing “How to …” books. 🙂

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  Look in their planner for the spelling words. The kids are improving on writing their words in their planners.

RELIGION: We continue our second week of Advent.

REMINDERS:

Please make sure you look at our school website for any free dress days or other activities.

*Friday, December 11th:  11:45 a.m. dismissal and Families in the afternoon.
