Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

MATH:  We began our new unit this week. We will focus on base ten blocks and counting them. Example: 4 tens and 4 ones equals 44 or 5 tens and 14 ones equals 64. Practice at home with their base ten blocks.

READING:  We began our new unit this week, Word Detectives. We are receiving missions from the SSDA (Super Secret Detective Agency). Our missions all have to do with reading skills. We receive a mission and practice it during our reading time.

*Mission #1: Notice a problem so we stop to solve it

*Mission #2: Look at the WHOLE word closely with a magnify glass. Pay close attention to endings such as shop vs shops (ing/ed/er).

This week we will get two more missions. Be sure to ask what Detective Vazquez practiced in class today.

Writing:  We are completing our HOW TO BOOKS….

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  Look in their planner for the spelling words. Spelling test on Tuesday.  Have them say it and lay it for you.  We will begin using Kids A-Z (mvazquez113) to practice spelling words since spelling city has merged with Learning A-Z. The app is not remembering their password so students have to type it each time they use Kids A-Z for reading and vocabulary. Vocabulary A-Z is just an extra way of practicing spelling words.

RELIGION: Lent Vocabulary: Fasting, Prayer, Almsgiving / Virtus Lessons (Staying safe) Learning about Safe touch/Unsafe touch/Safe Adults/Strangers

SOCIAL STUDIES: We will continue learning about Landforms.
