I look forward to seeing many families on Thursday for In N Out! Thank you for helping out in our school fundraiser.

Homework

  • Reading Log: Read 20 min. a day (at least 5 times a week)
  • Practice new word sort. Go over word patterns with your child. A reminder that test day may change due to extra time needed to review sort.  Please take the time to go over the meaning of their spelling words. You can find their spelling words in their planner. Also, I added the student’s corrected spelling test in the classwork folder. You can keep any corrected work at home.
  • Fluency (Please send me an email, if your child has not received their new fluency. Fluency was passed out last week and placed in their classwork folder.

  • LANGUAGE IXL: E.E.2 and E.E.3

Sneak Peek To Our Academic Week

MATH:  Unit 6 math test will be going home by Friday in their classwork folder. I will be doing activities from different units the next few weeks. We will be working on 2-D/3-D shapes, adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers.

What to continue reviewing in math:

identify value of coins (dime/nickel/penny/quarter) DDNP=26 cents QP=26 cents

*Telling time to the hour and half hour.

*simple addition & subtraction to 20 (7+3/6+5/10-3/13-5/10+10/20-12)

READING/PHONICS:  Students are having a great time learning about a topic and becoming an expert on a topic. We began working with partners and presenting their topics to each other.

Reading a NONFICTION BOOK:

What is the book teaching you?

What did you learn?

What did other things are you wondering about after reading the book?

We are reading nonfiction and remembering the information we have learned. We are telling our friends about what we learned. Always share new information so you can retain the information.

Writing: We are completing our best persuasive writing. Students must be able to state their problem, give reasons why it’s important to change, how it’s going to be fixed or changed, and end their writing (conclusion). We are working on adding capital letters to the beginning of a sentence and punctuation marks.

SPELLING/WORD SORT:  Our word sort this week will be all about contraction words.

RELIGION:  We continue learning about Mary. I would like the students to bring a flower from their garden to place by her statue in our class. If you do not have a garden, I will provide a flower on our school grounds or my garden. Please have them bring one flower on Monday morning.

Science: Does a statue’s shadow move? HHHMMMM…. We will find out! It’s a little frustrating when the sun doesn’t cooperate with my lesson planning. We will begin our investigation tomorrow or Thursday.
