Weekly Homework
Homework due EVERY Tuesday except for next week. Please turn in homework on Wednesday.
Reading Challenge: Read 20 minutes a day. Last acorn reading challenge this week. Upon our return from Thanksgiving, we will begin a comprehension bingo activity.

Fluency Homework: Daily (4 days)
Word Work: Review sounds or words. Students will take their spelling test on Monday.

Word Work: Review spelling patterns from their word sort.
Reading/Phonics:
We begin our new reading unit, Word Detectives. A few things we will learn in the next few days:
*Word Detectives (WD) notice tough words as they read and stop to solve these words right away.
*Looking closely at words to get clues, making sure they look across the WHOLE word to solve it.
*WD use all they know to solve problems.
Writing/Grammar: Writing a “small moment.” Students are to write about 5-10 sentences about a “true” story. I am looking for a beginning, middle and end to their story. We have not mastered our writing this trimester but continue to work on the skills to improve our narrative writing.
Math: Math test this week so lots of review. Counting nickels/pennies, skip counting by 2’s and 5’s, telling time to the hour and drawing the long and short hand to show the time, simple addition and subtraction, and reading a tally table.
Our test will be on Friday.
Religion: We will be doing a buddy activity and learning about Saints along the way. We have also learned that God speaks to us silently. Practice the Our Father and Hail Mary at home.
Science: We will do a turkey activity on Monday of next week with our buddies.
Art: We are beginning to make a few art pieces to prepare for our December board. We have made a nutcracker and an elf. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Spooner has in store for us in our next art lesson.
