Dear Kindergarten Families,

The start of Advent a time of waiting, praying and preparing! A blessed month, a wonderful time of year!

Teddy Bear day is on Wednesday, many stuffed animals have come in, if you have not purchased one please do so in the next couple days.  We are supporting the Adopt-A-Family family program through the LA Archdiocese.

Primary Centers is on Friday, which is a noon dismissal. We need a few more parents/grandparents to help out by doing this you will earn 2 service hours. Please send an email if you can come on Friday at 10:00. Please join us for Mass – anytime your schedule permits; we sit on the right side of Church, near the front.

We have a busy week!

Religion – our focus is on Advent, we will work on preparation and prayers, thinking of others, and the feast day of St. Nicholas on Thursday.

ELA- letters/sounds. rhymes and writing sentences. Writing workshop is all about writing information as how to do or make something in steps. Reading workshop has us reading in partners using our “powers” to read sight words, understand text though picture cues, and sounding out words to better understand the story or information.

Everyday Math- we are working with the pan balance, using objects to level the balance, using games to provide practice with counting and concrete addition and subtraction. Lots of oral counting by 1s, 5s, and 1os.

Science – working with colors and mixed materials to create a winter scene. A look at insects and their characteristics.

Social studies – mapping skills – understanding neighborhoods and streets to find a house.

Music –  Christmas songs – reminder to continue practicing those lines for the Christmas Program.

Library books due on Wednesday and homework on Thursday.

Thank you for your children!
