March 7, 2011

As we approach Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent, fourth graders are thinking of ways they can be more like Jesus and do things to help others.  Don’t be surprised if someone helps out around the house without being asked!  We are also discussing the Rosary.  If your child has Rosary beads, please send them to school for him or her to use during this Lenten season.

Please make sure that your child has his or her book for the next book report at school on or before this Wednesday.

Geometry is still our focus this week.  I am planning the chapter test for next Thursday, March 17th.  Science continues with the exploration of magnetism.  The Transcontinental Railroad and how it helped change California and the nation is our topic of discussion for social studies this week.  English brings us to unit 9 and the study of mechanics.

I am sending home the permission slips for next week’s field trip to Mission Santa Ynez. Please send it back along with the $15 fee by this Friday, March 11th.

Report cards for the second trimester will go home next Tuesday, March 15th.

Blessings,

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
