Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a restful and joyful Christmas season.  The next three days will help us ease back into the school routine.

The week ahead in 4thgrade

Math: We continue work in Unit 5: two-digit multiplication, using the partial products method.  

Reading: For the next couple of weeks we will be reading and discussing fiction books in book clubs; each student has been assigned to a book group.  I will resume reading Reading Response journals next Monday.  Remember, the goal is to read about 30 minutes every day as homework.

Writing: We will continue writing and editing rough drafts, and all of us will be writing our final drafts of our opinion essays in the coming days. 

Spelling: This week we begin work on Unit 19; the test will be next week.

Vocabulary: We continue learning about the words from Unit 8; the test will be next week.

Social Studies: Today we begin a unit on geography, learning about the five themes of geography and how to read maps.  

Science: We continue reading chapter 4.

Religion: This week we begin reading chapter 15, focusing upon the 5thcommandment.

Homework: (No Reading Response Journals this week)

Wednesday: ixL math skill D 21          

Thursday: Math masters page 151
