August 17, 2011

Dear Families,

I warmly welcome you all to fourth grade.  It is not only your children who experience the excitement of their one and only fourth grade year, but you as well.  We will work together as a team to make sure your child has a great year.  I am excited to begin a new school year at Sacred Heart School!  Mrs. Benner has worked hard to make sure the school facilities have been cleaned, polished, and updated for a fresh beginning to our 2011/2012 school year.  We are refreshed and ready to embark upon another year of serving God’s families to the best of our abilities.

I know in my heart that you have made an excellent decision in choosing Sacred Heart School for your children’s education.

Please know that I am easily accessible if you have questions about your children or about what is happening in the classroom.  I will be posting weekly updates and reminders on our Sacred Heart School website.  Please check the site each Monday or Tuesday for school and class information.  I will also, at times, send emails.  Please make sure I have your current email information.

This week we will spend time getting to know each other and becoming acquainted with the exciting activities and curriculum planned for the year.  I will introduce the students to fourth grade subject matter and go over standard classroom and playground procedures.  I will also spend time reviewing basic computation skills and give a timed multiplication quiz.  Please make sure you have purchased the required supplies and reading materials for this year.  Next week, the children will each have a chance to read orally for me as we explore our first novel, Gooseberry Park.

I am anxious to meet you during Back-To-School Night, scheduled for Wednesday, August 31st, at 7pm.  At that time I will discuss some of the great things planned for this school year.  I will also give you information and due dates for our book reports.

Again, welcome to fourth grade!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
