I hope 2012 has gotten off to a good start for you!  We were all a bit sluggish last week, but should be back into the swing now.

Last week in math we reviewed division skills. We continue this week with a focus on divisibility, prime and composite numbers, and finding averages.

We have started reading The Cricket in Times Square and it seems the students are enjoying the book.  Social studies brings us to the California Gold Rush and statehood.  Electricity will be explored as we begin our unit on physical science.  I will also be sharing the photos and adventures from my Costa Rica trip.  It was a beautiful experience of biodiversity! I am sure the students will love to see photos of snakes, frogs, crocodiles, birds, strange insects,  and a plethora of plants.

We are reviewing verb usage this week and I will give the test on Thursday.

Please return the field trip permission slip for Olivas Adobe as soon as possible.

All students should be reading a historical fiction for the next book report.  The book needs to be completed and in class on or before Wednesday, January 25th.

I want to thank you all again for the wonderful Christmas gifts!  I am blessed to teach at Sacred Heart School.  We have a wonderful community of students, parents, and faculty.  Cheers to the start of another year!

Mrs. Sharon Redmond
