General items of interest: On Wednesday is the Living Rosary, in church at 2 p.m. Please join us if you can. I am collecting money this week for Halloween tattoos; the eighth graders will be applying these on Friday after Mass. The cost is $1 per tattoo; students may purchase as many as they would like, but can only have two applied at school. Friday is a free dress day, to celebrate Halloween.
What we are working on this week:
Religion: We will finish discussing chapter 7 (worship) and then spend some time learning about the lives of the saints before we go on to chapter 8.
Math: Students should complete ixL Math skills D4, D24, and E1 by next Monday. In class we continue work in Unit 3.
Spelling: This week we are working on Unit 10. The book pages should be done by Friday, and we will have the test on Friday.
Grammar: We continue Unit 2, which focuses upon nouns.
Vocabulary: We continue our study of Unit 5 words, with a test this Thursday. We will write sentences using the 12 words, and these will be due Thursday. Students have made flash cards, which are great for practicing the definitions and synonyms.
Reading: Fluency homework #9 should be completed by next Monday. Reading Logs will be due next Monday as well. Click here to download: reading log nouns verbs.
Social Studies: We will begin work reading the next three issues of Studies Weekly. The focus is upon the early Californians. Students will work in groups to prepare presentations about how the native peoples lived in the four different regions of California.
Science: We continue our study of how living things interact with other living things. We are making study cards to help us to learn the main concepts in this chapter.
Thanking you for your continuing support,
