Sacred Heart School was crowded with love and stories by none other than students’ grandparents. All this fun can only be caused by a Sacred Heart tradition known as Grandparents Day.

Grandparents from all students were treated to a special mass in honor of them. The priest gave a blessing of good health and a long life to all grandparents. As students said their goodbyes, and lined up for class, grandparents were treated to a special reception provided by Sacred Heart Staff in the Biedermann Hall.

Once back in class, all grades were treated to a long 30-minute recess. After recess concluded, the grandparents came out of the Biedermann Hall looking in class after class for grandchildren. Damian, an eighth grader, was looking for his grandmother and said, “Each year I am last to find my grandmother, but it is always nice to see her happy.” We also heard from eighth grader, Benjamin, about how he felt Grandparents Day went. “It was pretty good; my favorite part was being with my grandparents who I don’t get to see much.”

In all grades grandparents played games and told stories.  Middle school switched classes from sixth, seventh and eighth grade and from plan your dream vacation to reading about how one person can make a difference and playing fun math games with your loved ones, Grandparent Lucy told us, “I felt like I was in my dream vacation of the Bahamas.”

Finally, at 11:45 students had to say goodbye to their grandparents with a conclusion to another great Grandparents Day tradition.
