Dear Kindergarten Parents,

This week begins with a new family joining our school community.  We are welcoming Megan to our class and her brother to second grade!

Wednesday – free dress for our mission efforts – Please send in $1.00 donation.

Friday marks 100 days of school and Primary Centers we will dismiss school at noon.

Monday, January 21 is a school holiday to remember Martin Luther King Jr.

Getting to academics, our focus is on Jesus’ life as a young boy. Religion lessons will be centered around God’s gift of community, unit 5 in our Family Life series. The Year of Faith has our students showing their love and care for others as they continue with the documents that will eventually complete a booklet on faith.

On Tuesday we will continue exploring landforms and materials that make up the Earth top layer. This will have us using our senses as we look, feel, measure, and learn how different soils absorb moisture. Social studies lessons will remember Martin Luther King Jr. and his dream for equality.

This week we will start a chapter on calendar and time. Adding number combinations and using a number line will continue as a practice and review for math centers.

As we read, our comprehension strategy is to understand cause and effect. Focus letter/sound for this week is /v/ along with short vowel /a/.  As always correct letter formation and using upper and lower case letters when writing our name and sentences.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
